Stepping outside the palace, I saw a completely different world. A forest is stretching to the horizon and is symmetrically arranged, known as the "Garden" of Versailles. Not the palace, but this Garden was the most memorable place in my journey to Versailles.

1. The Garden

Because it looks “frugal” with merely trees and plants, very few people decided to travel into the Garden. But believe me, a wander into that Garden, especially during autumn season, would make you feel extremely relax and comfortable instead of being overwhelming with details or luxury like the inside of the palace.

As I've mentioned many times, French love symmetry, and this garden is a golden example.

The garden is like a massive labyrinth with small paths completely filled with leaves on the yard. So romantic and enjoyable with me. Visiting the garden was like a gift-opening game where I followed a path it would lead to some hidden features such as a fountain, a statue or a courtyard with benches that I could not foresee.

Sometimes, I heard nothing except the sound of wind on the trees.

I was going to nowhere and I got lost several times. What I found was a long line of trees. I thought it would be very laborious to keep these trees in line and equal like that.

2. Petit Trianon

Living enough in luxurious residence, the French monarch chose to return to living in the village as a new hobby. They built a village right in the large garden of Versailles to enjoy the countryside life. That’s Petit Trianon.

The road to Petit Trianon is as poetic as desktop wallpapers on my laptop.

Petit Trianon was a gift of King Louis XVI to Queen Marie-Antoinette who turned this place to an Anglo-Oriented garden as nowadays. This is the reason why Petit Trianon is associated with the name of the famous queen of the last French monarchy.

A painting of Queen Marie-Antoinette.

The Queen spent a huge fortune to create her own private residence, which later became one of the people's accusations against her during the French revolution.

There are gardens, farmer’s houses, cattle farms in Petit Trianon. These are realistic but not models. All create a humble village in a most luxurious palace in the world.

There is a famous ghost story which is posted on the official website of Versailles (here). The story is about two women who backed to the past and met Queen Marrie Atonnette at this Petit Trianon. Well, I also got lost in Petit Trianon and saw no one at several times. I felt scared when thinking about the above ghost story during the time that I got lost here.

These are places that I got lost:

After all, I found the way out:

It is often said that the most boring journey is returning to the starting point. The way back to the palace to finish this remarkable journey was very long for me. Looks very tired, right?

This is the end of Versailles journey. : D
