Winter in France

Most of what I have heard about the winter is true, like very cold season, bare trees, snowfall, cloudy sky with little sunshine. Only one thing I think differently from others, that winter has its special beauty, but not sad and depress.

Unlike me with 4 layers of shirts and 3 layers of pants during winter, the trees here take off their “clothes” to face with the zero degree. This creates a gloomy atmosphere like the images of the witch's area showing in children's cartoons. I wonder how can I recognize my below favorite check-in places in autumn without their previous pictures.

The green iconic house at the gate of Petite France now transferred into a humble one in the winter.

The “red army” is beaten by the winter.

My window view has changed much since the first day I live in this room.

So, are the bare trees lovely? It’s not. I believe the most beautiful and unique part of the winter is the snow. These ice crystals are gifts from the god to bring the balance of unique beauty to winter in comparison with other seasons.

The woody bridge near my accommodation was being covered with snow. Many of my friends show their enjoyment with this bridge when they came to Strasbourg.

One day, I woke up and saw the white had filled the view of my window. Luckily, it was a sunny day with blue sky to wander around.

This maple leaf is the combination of the autumn and winter.

It was a fantastic day at my school when I saw heavy snowfall for the first time. Maybe due to the feeling of first time, it was just me and a few Asian friends who went outside and enjoyed the snowfall.

Snows like the shaved ice I used to eat during my childhood. It quickly turned into water when touching my arm. Contrary to my imagination of soft movements on the snow like stepping onto cotton, the feeling of walking on the snow was rough and made me feel very uncomfortable and got goosebumps.

I was here on 21 December 2021.
